Designed the overall system architecture, packaging, and layout of the device, including the extremely compact and power-efficient mechanism and optical position encoder system for precision extrusion and atomization of the drug dose, including design and fabrication of a motor dynamometer to aid in characterization and selection of a suitable miniature DC motor.

AXP® Stem cell separation & storage processing system
Project manager, system architect, and lead engineer of an autonomous device used in a high-speed refrigerated centrifuge for harvesting buffy-coat and stem cells from umbilical cord blood for cryogenic storage. Designed and integrated a blood bag support structure, optical sensors, servo valve, load-cell, rechargeable battery, multiple accelerometers, and embedded control system all in a device that fit in a 1-liter centrifuge bucket and operated successfully in the high-G environment of the centrifuge.

Led the Mechanical Engineering group of a start-up company to develop, produce, and release a world-class full-motion racecar driving simulation system to 15 stores across the United States. Designed electro-hydraulic 4-Degree of Freedom motion platform and simulator chassis. Led the development of the tooling and composite body panels for the vehicles. Machined and welded prototype and early production mechanisms and structures.

Lead engineer on design and documentation of the Lifeshirt garment, including embedded thoracic plethysmograph bands, sensor harness retention, and access points for EKG leads. Mechanical engineer for the sensor harness, including mechanical design of PCBs, connector and cable selection, cable strain relief design, cable flex life testing, and design of cable assembly tooling.

Designed, fabricated, and assembled proof of concept prototypes which allowed client to secure series-A investor funding. Subsequently refined the design of the needleset and driver, including motor selection, offshore sourcing of gearbox, design of injection molded housing components, and production of pilot run of devices for clinical trials in support of FDA 510k submission.
